ABOUT SGMIP
It is well known that real life problems require varying degree of mathematical inputs for their effective solutions. A multitude of mathematical and statistical techniques for problem solving are now available and accessible due to recent advances in computational capabilities.
In the present day technological world the awareness and ability to use these techniques is perceived to be essential for academicians, research scientists and industrial engineers. The Study Group Meeting aims to provide a platform to user community to learn these techniques by encouraging them to pose real life problem pertaining to their organization before a group of elite academia from IIT’s and other institutions. It is hoped that in their interaction with this group over six days, the scientists and technocrats of respective organizations will get good exposure to different mathematical techniques for problem solving, which will eventually lead to some viable solution of the problem under consideration.
The Study Group Meeting of March, 2009 will mainly focus on problems pertaining to Uttarakhand in the area of Agriculture, Ecology & Environment, Forestry and Water Resources & Power. However, participation in the Meet will be on all India basis to get more academic inputs.KIPASPA09
Twenty first century is the century of knowledge where innovation will be the key for the production as well as for processing of knowledge. Issues of generation, valuation, protection and exploitation of intellectual property (IP) are, therefore, going to become critically important all around the world. As more and more developing countries join WTO, it is expected that the process of harmonization will intensify. In spite of the fact that the 1994 TRIPS agreement calls for technology transfer to the least developed countries, yet that provision has scarcely been translated into action resulting in an adverse impact on the pace of their economic and social development. To bring about the desired change, the need of the hour is to have a closer look at the existing IP framework with an objective of rationalizing the same in the context of the developing countries. This International conference is an attempt towards assessment of the existing framework and addressing the concern of the Asia-Pacific region keeping in mind its socio-economic and cultural framework.

Srishti… the very word evokes a feeling of unexplored creativity. All that the human mind can imagine, all the ideas it can give wings to and all the fancies it can give color to, are encompassed by this single word. Srishti is the annual techno-hobby exhibition organised by the Hobbies Club. It is one of the largest exhibition that recognises innovation. A play ground for young creative minds. The only of its kind in IITs. Srishti sees a huge participation of people in terms of footfalls per day with a large number of students and professionals attending this three day fest. Srishti is a grand event for the enthusiastic hobbyists. Srishti 2009 will be the celebration of 50 years of Hobbies Club. We hope to make it a grand event with every possible effort we can put in.
